Real prices for private transfers from Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) airports to your hotel, typical drive times and tips for a smooth arrival.
Landing in the Dominican Republic is exciting. Figuring out how to get from the airport to your hotel after a long flight is not. This guide covers the two airports most visitors use, Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo Las Américas (SDQ), with real prices for private transfers, typical travel times and a few tips to make your arrival smooth.
Private transfer, taxi or shuttle: which one to choose?
At both airports you’ll find taxis at the exit and hotel shuttles for some resorts. A pre-booked private transfer is usually the most relaxed option, especially if you travel with family, friends or a lot of luggage:
- Fixed price, agreed in advance. You know what you’ll pay before you land, in US dollars.
- The vehicle is only for your group. No waiting for other passengers or stops at other hotels.
- Priced per vehicle, not per person. For groups, it’s often cheaper than paying several taxis.
With Wally’s Tours, transfers are private and priced by group size: 1–6 passengers or 7–14 passengers (Santo Domingo city transfers also have a 1–3 passenger rate).
Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) transfer prices
Punta Cana International Airport is the main arrival point for the resorts in Bávaro, Punta Cana, Cap Cana and Uvero Alto. Most hotels in the area are a short drive away.
| From PUJ to | 1–6 passengers | 7–14 passengers | Approx. drive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Punta Cana & Bávaro hotels | USD $35 (1–3) · $50 (4–6) | USD $100 | 20–35 min |
| Cap Cana | USD $40 | USD $70 | 15–20 min |
| Uvero Alto | USD $55 | USD $80 | 40–50 min |
| Miches | USD $85 | USD $140 | 1.5–2 h |
| Bayahibe / La Romana | from USD $150 | from USD $170 | 1–1.5 h |
| Santo Domingo | USD $170 | USD $240 | 2.5–3 h |
| Samaná | USD $340 | USD $395 | 3.5–4 h |
One-way prices per vehicle at the time of writing. Drive times are estimates and depend on traffic. A round trip is simply two one-way transfers.

How to book your airport transfer
- Search your route. On our transfer page, choose the airport as pick-up and your hotel as drop-off (or the other way around for your departure).
- Pick one way or round trip, the date, the time and the number of passengers.
- Pay online and keep the confirmation on your phone.
Travelling with children? Count them as passengers when you choose the group size, so the vehicle has a seat for everyone.
Tips for a smooth arrival
- Book before you fly. You’ll walk out of the terminal knowing exactly who is picking you up and how much it costs.
- Send us your flight number. Message us on WhatsApp with your flight details so we can plan the pickup around your real arrival time.
- Fill in the Dominican e-Ticket. All travellers must complete this free online migration and customs form before arriving and before leaving the country. Keep the QR code handy.
- Plan your return early. For departures, book the transfer with enough time to arrive at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight.
- Carry some small bills. US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, but small change is useful for tips and snacks.
Frequently asked questions
Are the prices per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. The price depends on the size of your group (1–6 or 7–14 passengers), not on how many people are in it.
Can I book a round trip?
Yes. Choose “Round trip” in the search form and add the date and time of your return.
Do you offer transfers between hotels or cities?
Yes. Besides airport routes, we cover transfers between the main tourist areas: Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, Juan Dolio, Bayahibe, La Romana, Punta Cana, Uvero Alto, Samaná and more.
Can I combine a transfer with excursions?
Of course. Many of our guests book their airport transfer and then add excursions with hotel pickup in Punta Cana or Santo Domingo.
